Job Description
Job Overview As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. You will work closely with clients to support their daily activities and promote their independence while ensuring their safety and well-being. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members. Monitor and document clients' vital signs and overall health status, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel. Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy. Assist clients with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring them as necessary. Support clients with dementia care by using appropriate techniques to manage behaviors and enhance communication. Participate in ongoing training and development to improve skills related to direct support and caregiving. Experience Previous experience in direct support or caregiving is preferred but not required. Familiarity with care plans and the ability to follow established protocols is essential. Knowledge of first aid procedures is beneficial for ensuring client safety. Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities is a plus. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
