Pony Bird, Inc. is looking for a part -time Direct Support Professional for our Baptist Park Program located in Mapaville! This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm . We provide comprehensive, high-quality supports and services for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities in a fun, enriching, and supportive environment. The focus of this program is to ensure the quality of life, health, dignity, and independence of individuals who are non-ambulatory with multiple developmental disabilities. In this position, the DSP will engage in person-centered outcomes, understand individuals' rights, aide with personal care, and enhance the individual's independence by teaching skill development. Qualifications High School diploma or GED At least 18 years old Reliable transportation Good interpersonal communication skills Ability to follow oral and written directions and problem solve Demonstrate patience, sensitivity, and positive attitude towards persons experiencing severe to profound developmental disabilities Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations (accidents, seizures, fire, etc.) Light computer skills to include data entry and word processing Work requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to push a wheelchair and transfer an individual to and from wheelchair Responsibilities Assist individuals with personal hygiene when needed including: providing bowel and bladder care by checking and changing briefs. Monitor and assist with meals and nutritional needs, encouraging individuals to eat as independently as possible, yet assisting as needed. Monitor and assist with proper hydration. Assist with mobility and/or transfer of individuals using the lift system and various other adaptive devices. Perform range of motion, application of splints, and utilize positioning equipment as indicated in care plan. Provide positive behavior supports as outlined in the Individual Support Plan. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
