Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential assistance and support to individuals with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and other special needs. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in fostering independence, promoting well-being, and ensuring safety through personalized care, active engagement, and effective communication. Duties Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and mobility support. Implement individualized care plans that address specific needs related to psychiatric health, neurodevelopmental disorders, or disabilities. Provide emotional support and encouragement to promote self-esteem and social skills development. Document client progress accurately using electronic health records (EHR) management systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. Facilitate therapeutic activities such as art therapy or addiction counseling sessions tailored to individual goals. Support individuals in developing life skills related to employment, community integration, and gender issues counseling when appropriate. Monitor behavioral health symptoms and collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement effective interventions. Promote a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and responding promptly to emergencies or behavioral challenges. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly desirable. Knowledge of psychiatric patient care practices and co-occurring disorders management enhances effectiveness in this role. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation and data tracking is required. Experience providing addiction counseling or gender issues counseling is advantageous. Background in art therapy or psychopharmacology can be beneficial for supporting holistic care approaches. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds are essential. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to person-centered care. $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
