About us Sky Blue Brokering is a small business helping individuals and families with developmental disabilities in serving multiple counties in the Taconic region of NYS. We are professional, agile, and innovative. We are looking for a Direct Support Professional to join our team and provide support to adult individuals (18+) with disabilities in their homes and out in the community. We are looking to fill a position in the Wappinger Falls Area. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing assistance with activities of daily living, helping individuals develop and maintain independent living skills, assisting with community activities, and providing emotional support. The ideal candidate(s) is someone who is physically capable of supporting the client. Staff must be willing to work in the home and out in the community. Staff will need to support the client with going out shopping, being active in the community, and taking them to personal training sessions at the gym. Staff will be expected to help the client read, communicate, advocate, and socialize. Staff will teach the client how to perform basic functions on a cellphone. Staff must have a reliable vehicle. There are no pets in the house. Client requires the use of a wheelchair and can transfer himself. He sometimes has the strength to carry his weight. Staff must be aware of his balance and provide physical support as needed. The client's family will offer specific insight and training for this. Staff should have previous experience and knowledge about working with clients who have developmental and/or physical disabilities. Staff must be willing to travel and have their own reliable vehicle to use during shifts.
Responsibilities:
Assist individuals with daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, community activities, personal goals, and eating. Provide transportation to medical appointments, recreational activities, and other outings. Monitor individuals' health and safety. Develop and implement individualized service plans. Assist individuals in developing and achieving personal goals. Maintain records of services provided and progress made by individuals. Provide emotional support to individuals in crisis situations.
Hours:
Tuesdays and Fridays 10 am to 2 pm, 8 hours/week (staff may be asked to come at 9 am somedays) Additional information will be provided on a follow-up phone call with interested parties.
