NURSING ASSISTANT

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Treats residents with respect at all times. Provides personal care such as baths, showers, oral hygiene, finger/toenail care. Assist/shave male residents PRN. Uses safety measures for residents and self-using good body mechanics at all times. Uses safety devices, i.e.: Side rails PRN, etc. Assist resident to bathroom as necessary. Encourages and assists resident to attend all therapies and programs ordered/approved by the physician (i.e., physical therapy). Assists resident to practice activities or exercises learned in therapy programs. Assists in mental rehabilitation programs (i.e., reality orientation, validation therapy, etc.). Organizes care so residents can attend activities or therapies as scheduled. Assist in transporting residents to activity programs. An answer call lights promptly and provides or obtains the necessary care. Observes and reports unusual symptoms, changes, accidents and injuries to the charge nurse/charge C.N.A.. Reports to charge nurse/charge C.N.A. before going off duty. Performs other related duties as necessary and directed by charge nurse/charge C.N.A./supervisor. Makes beds and tidies unit on a daily basis. Cares for soiled and clean linen and personal resident laundry according to facility procedure. Follows established infection control guidelines for maintaining cleanliness of drawers, closets, resident bathrooms, clean and dirty utility rooms, nutrition station and nurse's station. Cleans and cares for equipment and utensils as assigned by charge nurse/charge C.N.A.. Attends staff meetings and Staff Development Programs as required. Wears uniform as designated by the facility. Is able to interpret the "Resident Right's" to the resident/family or other individuals as necessary. Qualifications Must have a High School diploma or Equivalent. DHS Direct Care Staff Training (We will provide this to you at no cost!)
