Job Description
Do you enjoy helping people? Do you want to have fun at work? Can you bring compassion to your job every day? VP&J services is currently hiring for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). We have openings in the Lynchburg and Appomattox areas. Successful applicants will be working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities and physical limitations. DSPs will support individuals with activities of daily living as well as skill building to learn to be more independent. Must be able to support with bathing, toileting, eating, dressing, cleaning their home, and accessing the community. These individuals enjoy doing the same things you do, going shopping, out to eat, to the movies, bowling, etc. Individuals live in rural areas so applicants must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license. DSPs are responsible for filling out paperwork daily and writing a narrative note of the day and what occurred. DSPs go through several days of paid training to include First Aid and CPR, Medication Administration, Human Rights Training, Therapeutic Options training, and others. Positions are for 1st shift (7a-3p) and 2nd shift (3p-11p) all week as well as weekends. MUST be able to work weekends. Positions available in Appomattox and Lynchburg. This position requires 2 weeks of training that occurs in Appomattox, M-F between 8am and 5pm.
