Job Description

Overview Caring Hearts House AFH is seeking dependable and compassionate Dedicated Support Professionals to provide individualized support to an adult resident with higher behavioral and safety needs. This is a dedicated staffing position, meaning you will be assigned to provide focused support, supervision, and assistance to one resident during your scheduled shift. This position requires someone who is patient, observant, dependable, and able to remain calm and professional during challenging situations. The ideal candidate is comfortable supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral needs and understands the importance of consistency, safety, positive redirection, and resident rights.
Starting pay:
$19.00 per hour Previous experience in behavioral health, developmental disabilities, adult family homes, CBRFs, group homes, direct support, or similar settings is preferred. Training specific to the resident's needs and Behavior Support Plan will be provided. Responsibilities Provide dedicated one-on-one supervision and support to the assigned resident throughout the scheduled shift. Maintain continuous awareness of the resident's location, behaviors, safety, and support needs. Follow the resident's Behavior Support Plan (BSP), Individual Service Plan, and established safety protocols at all times. Recognize behavioral triggers and use approved redirection, de-escalation, and positive behavioral support techniques. Safely respond to challenging behaviors that may include aggression, elopement/running away, property destruction, self-harm behaviors, and difficulty accepting limits or redirection. Accompany and support the resident during community outings, appointments, activities, and other approved activities. Assist with daily living needs and routines as identified in the resident's care plan. Promote independence, dignity, choice, and resident rights while maintaining appropriate supervision and safety. Accurately document behaviors, interventions, incidents, activities, and other required information before the end of each shift. Immediately report significant behavioral changes, incidents, injuries, safety concerns, or unusual occurrences according to company policy. Administer or assist with medications as permitted by the employee's training and assigned responsibilities. Communicate professionally with management and other members of the resident's care team. Complete all required company, regulatory, and resident-specific training. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all Caring Hearts AFH policies and procedures. Remain awake, alert, attentive, and actively engaged with the resident throughout the dedicated staffing assignment. Experience Previous experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, or other high-support needs is preferred. Experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), caregiver, behavioral support staff, CBRF/AFH caregiver, group home staff, or similar position is preferred. Experience supporting individuals who may exhibit aggression, elopement, property destruction, self-harm behaviors, or other challenging behaviors is highly desirable. Knowledge of positive behavioral supports, redirection, and de-escalation techniques is preferred. Ability to follow a Behavior Support Plan (BSP) and individualized care instructions. Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills. Must be dependable, patient, professional, and able to remain calm during challenging situations.
