I. POSITION DESCRIPTION
: The purpose of this position is to perform laboratory analyses to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, and gaseous materials for such purposes as quality and process control.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Perform environmental sample analysis by ICP-OES using Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedures and other EPA methodology. Perform GC-FID analysis on gaseous samples taken from production areas. Quantify Carbon and Sulfur by non-dispersive infrared absorption. Perform metallurgical analysis by Arc Spark-OES. Issue alloy treatments to Production. Perform Quality Control functions in production areas to ensure final product meets specifications. Record and report data using laboratory notebooks, controlled documents, and other documentation methods. Prepare chemical stock solutions according to standard formulas and samples for testing. Maintain data in SAP. Follow written standard operating procedures. Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping programs Operate, clean, and maintain on trained laboratory equipment and instruments Cleans and maintains laboratory environment and equipment. Other duties as assigned.
III. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS
: High School Diploma or equivalent Bachelors in chemistry preferred. Lab experience preferred but not required. Proficient in Microsoft programs such as: Excel, Word, and Outlook

V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
