Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The ability to effectively, professionally and tactfully interact and communicate with faculty, students, and industry professionals The ability to manage projects and assignments in an efficient and effective manner Knowledge of optometric examination equipment as well as vision screening equipment Basic skills in reasoning Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact well with staff, students, faculty, and administration in a highly responsive manner. Must be culturally sensitive and maintain confidentiality. Work experience in a service position preferred Essential Job Duties Key Responsibilities Open and close laboratory space at assigned times to facilitate student access to laboratory learning environment Monitor student utilization of laboratory space to ensure safe and appropriate usage of instrumentation and laboratory protocols Handle and oversee sign-in/sign-out documentation as required Key Responsibilities Assist students with equipment check-out procedures, logging into computers, and proper use of laboratory equipment and resources Assist by answering student questions to the best of your ability and directing students to appropriate resources including instructors, syllabi, and instructional materials Serve as mock patients for student practice sessions when not assigned to laboratory monitoring duties Key Responsibilities Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and access to laboratory materials Provide routine service and basic troubleshooting as needed; e.g. replacement of bulbs, malfunctions, reporting technical/equipment issues Provide regular cleaning and maintenance of laboratory facilities and ophthalmic equipment and ensure students properly clean and maintain laboratory spaces at the conclusion of their practice sessions Key Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.
