Job Description

Lab Technician - Metallurgical Testing (Aerospace) We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to perform metallurgical testing of aerospace components. This role supports quality and engineering teams by conducting material testing, sample preparation, and analysis to verify components meet aerospace industry specifications and standards.
Responsibilities:
Prepare metallurgical samples through sectioning, mounting, grinding, and polishingPerform mechanical and metallurgical tests, including hardness testing, tensile testing, and microstructural analysisConduct macro and micro examinations using optical and/or electron microscopyDocument test results accurately and prepare detailed reports for engineering and quality teamsIdentify and report material defects, inconsistencies, or non-conformancesMaintain and calibrate lab equipment; follow proper maintenance schedulesEnsure compliance with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ASTM) and customer specificationsFollow all lab safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work areaCommunicate testing results and findings clearly with engineers and quality personnel
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field preferredPrior experience in a metallurgical or materials testing lab, preferably in aerospace or manufacturingFamiliarity with metallurgical testing methods (hardness testing, tensile testing, microstructural analysis)Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and test proceduresStrong attention to detail and accuracy in documentationBasic computer proficiency for data entry and report generation
Preferred:
Experience with
ASTM/AMS
testing standardsFamiliarity with AS9100 or other aerospace quality systemsExperience with optical/electron microscopy equipment
