This position plays a key role in supporting laboratory operations through tribology testing, equipment qualification, machine maintenance, and collaboration with engineering teams on development projects. The Lab Technician independently operates specialized tribology equipment, qualifies machines, documents results, maintains equipment, and supports development of new test methods while maintaining a strong commitment to laboratory safety. Essential Responsibilities
Perform tribology and materials testing.
Prepare specimens and materials per ASTM, ISO, and customer procedures.
Document and review test data.
Prepare reports and communicate progress. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Operate equipment safely.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Troubleshoot and assist with repairs.
Qualify new or rebuilt machines prior to shipment.
Perform calibration and verification activities. Engineering Support
Collaborate with engineering teams.
Assist with prototype testing.
Support new test method development.
Assist with validation testing. Laboratory Operations
Maintain a clean laboratory.
Maintain supplies.
Assist with customer samples.
Support continuous improvement. Safety Responsibilities
Follow all safety procedures.
Safely handle solvents and chemicals.
Wear required PPE.
Report unsafe conditions immediately. Required
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Manufacturing Technology, or another related STEM field; or equivalent education and laboratory experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to interpret technical documentation.
Strong organizational skills.
Microsoft Office proficiency.
Ability to work independently and on a team. Preferred
