Scrubs and work shoes provided Important Requirement Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship . Sponsorship is not available for this position. Position Overview The Animal Care Assistant will provide hands-on care and husbandry for larger preclinical research animals in a controlled laboratory environment. This position involves working directly with swine, canine, and ovine , making comfort around animals and a genuine interest in animal care essential. Previous animal-care experience is preferred, but CVT certification is not required . The ideal candidate will be dependable, attentive to animal welfare, comfortable performing physically active work, and able to consistently follow detailed SOPs, safety procedures, and Good Documentation Practices . Key Responsibilities Provide daily animal health monitoring and husbandry in accordance with established procedures. Feed animals according to department SOPs and individual requirements. Clean and maintain animal housing areas daily. Provide appropriate animal enrichment, including exercise, toys, and social housing. Perform weekly disinfection of animal housing areas, including walls, flooring, and feed bins. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and animal-care environment. Monitor animals for changes in health or behavior and immediately communicate concerns to Veterinary Staff . Accurately document daily animal-care activities in animal records and required forms using Good Documentation Practices (GDP) . Follow all SOPs, safety procedures, and applicable quality requirements. Receive and organize department deliveries. Communicate facility maintenance needs to management. Assist Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians with assigned activities as directed. Maintain compliance with quality-system requirements and help build quality into all aspects of daily work. Participate in required weekend animal-care activities . Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Comfortable working directly with animals. Willingness to work with swine, canine, and ovine . Ability to follow detailed SOPs and safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills. Reliable attendance and willingness to work required weekend shifts. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds . U.S. work authorization without current or future sponsorship required. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with animals. Animal husbandry experience. Veterinary, kennel, farm, livestock, agricultural, research, or laboratory animal experience. Experience working in a regulated or controlled environment. Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices. CVT certification is not required. Industry experience is a plus. Work Environment & Expectations This is a hands-on animal-care position rather than a traditional office or laboratory role. Candidates should be comfortable spending much of the workday caring for and working around larger animals and performing routine cleaning, feeding, enrichment, and husbandry activities. Animal-care responsibilities occur seven days a week , so weekend availability is an essential part of the position. Required medical screening/background requirements must be successfully completed before the first day of work. Pay Details:
