Job Description

Job Summary :
Working under the Regulatory Compliance manager, the lab technician will follow best practices, analytical methods and SOPs of a quality assurance program for the ethanol plant to ensure maximum yields, process optimization and product quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Individuals assigned to this position will normally be responsible for the day to day testing, inventory management and some EHS duties identified by the manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manages plant QA/QC program
  • Adheres to plant QA program based on best practice in the ethanol industry by sampling various points in the process and conducting QA/QC tests as required.
  • Monitors use and inventories of laboratory chemicals and supplies.
  • Operates, maintains, trouble shoots and calibrates laboratory equipment.
  • Properly documents all results
  • Promptly communicates abnormal results as applicable to Lab and Production Managers
  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations for adjusting process conditions to ensure that production and QA standards are met.
  • Collect and send samples to outside laboratories as determined by the Laboratory Manager Assists in safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the safety program for the laboratory and participates as a representative in the safety program
  • Manages and conducts various safety audits
Qualifications:
High school diploma required. Two or four year degree specializing in science helpful. Experience with laboratory instrumentation is desired (HPLC, GC, IC) Must have basic computer and spreadsheet skills Must be able to multitask and work efficiently with laboratory instrumentation Needs to be able to work a flexible work schedule including holidays and weekends as needed
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The employee must occasionally lift and/move up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near mechanical parts The employee may be exposed to dusty conditions The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions. The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process

$18.00 - $22.50 per hour
