is seeking an individual for its Materials Engineering department to augment the development and construction of high efficiency solar cells for nascent space applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will conduct hands-on experimental work, support scientific investigations, and maintains laboratory operations in support of aeronautics research at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. This role is essential for generating reliable data, ensuring safe lab practices, and advancing research objectives in support of organizational missions. Key Responsibilities Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments according to research goals. Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; prepare technical reports. Operate, calibrate, and maintain scientific instruments and equipment. Follow established safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement of lab safety. Prepare samples, test fixtures, and other materials needed for experiments. Document procedures, observations, and results in accordance with standard lab requirements. Troubleshoot experimental issues and recommend process or method improvements. Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and project teams to support ongoing research. Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure laboratory cleanliness and operational readiness.
Required Skills:
Experience with laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and safety practices. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation standards. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree, Maters Degree, or Doctorate and 0 - 5 years' experience.
Other Position Requirements:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
