Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Geotechnical Laboratory Technician / Field Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials used in infrastructure projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work both in the laboratory and on construction sites, applying your technical skills to perform testing, inspections, and data collection that uphold industry standards. Responsibilities Conduct laboratory testing of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, soils, and aggregates following ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), and ACI (American Concrete Institute) standards to ensure compliance with project specifications. Perform field inspections and sampling on construction sites to verify material quality, including soil testing, concrete forming, masonry, and asphalt testing. Collect accurate data during testing procedures, documenting results meticulously for analysis and reporting purposes. Assist with quality control processes by inspecting construction materials during various phases of project execution to maintain high standards. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project managers regarding test results, inspection findings, and compliance issues. Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Support analysis of test data to identify potential issues early, enabling timely corrective actions on-site or in the lab. Skills Proven laboratory experience with construction materials testing including concrete, asphalt, soils, and masonry. Strong knowledge of ASTM standards along with familiarity with AASHTO standards for highway-related materials. Construction site experience with an understanding of soil testing, concrete pouring/forming, and asphalt application processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for report writing and data analysis. Excellent attention to detail combined with solid analysis skills for interpreting test results accurately. Ability to perform basic math calculations confidently; numeracy is essential for precise measurements and data collection. Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration in outdoor work environments. Technical proficiency in operating laboratory testing equipment such as compression machines, moisture analyzers, sieve shakers, etc. Experience inspecting construction materials during various phases of projects to ensure quality control compliance. Knowledge of ASTM standards related to geotechnical testing procedures including soil classification and compaction tests. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety protocols at all times. This Technician position plays a key role in supporting laboratory testing production and accuracy, project quality, documentation of field conditions, and communication of conditions, results, and findings to engineers, contractors, and project teams.
Pay:
$22.00 - $27.00 per hour
