Full-time About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to join our clinical laboratory team in Victoria, TX. In this role, you will perform routine and specialized diagnostic testing on blood, body fluids, and other specimens to deliver accurate and timely patient results. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions Diagnostic Laboratory Testing :
Perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory tests across assigned departments following established laboratory protocols. Review and validate all test results for accuracy. Quality Control (QC) &
Compliance :
Execute and evaluate quality control procedures. Document and resolve out-of-range or invalid results before releasing patient data. Adhere to strict regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission).
Equipment Maintenance :
Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot clinical laboratory instrumentation. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and resolve technical issues promptly.
Specimen Collection & Phlebotomy :
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws according to established phlebotomy procedures. Ensure strict patient identification and proper specimen labeling.
LIS Documentation & Critical Reporting :
Accurately document test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Follow established procedures for critical value reporting and maintaining specimen integrity.
Troubleshooting & Resolution :
Recognize, investigate, and resolve pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical issues regarding specimen handling and testing; escalate complex concerns appropriately.
Team Training & Leadership :
Participate in training and onboarding new laboratory personnel and students by demonstrating lab procedures, monitoring performance, and providing constructive feedback.
General Compliance :
Maintain regular, reliable attendance and adhere to all facility safety rules, policies, and operational standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Education (One of the following is required): Associate Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Laboratory Technology. OR Completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (minimum 50 weeks) with the military occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist. Certifications (One of the following is required): Medical Laboratory Technician
  • MLT (ASCP) Medical Lab Technician
  • MLT (AAB or HEW) Certified Medical Laboratory Technician
  • MLT (AMT) State licensure where applicable.
Experience & Skills:
Experience:
0-2 years of acute clinical laboratory experience preferred (New grads welcome to apply).
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of laboratory testing principles, quality control practices, phlebotomy, and specimen processing.
Software & Instruments:
Proficiency with clinical laboratory instrumentation, LIS platforms, and electronic data entry.
Core Competencies:
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with an uncompromising commitment to patient safety and quality standards.
