Type:

full-time Kelly is hiring an Analyst - Scientific I for one of our clients in Ashland, VA 3 month contract (contract only) The shift will be M-F daytime hours - 830 to 5 with a lunch. I can be flexible on time to a degree No OT $15/hr Ideally, the candidate has lab experience and experience on prepping and analyzing samples. They are organized, move efficiently and effectively, and can manage time with a sense of urgency. SOP adherence is important. Have specifically ICP experience or metals prep experience would be great but it's a niche skill so I'm not sure we'll find that quickly.

Must haves:

Lab experience Multitasking and priority management ability Able to task switch Ideally a chemistry degree or years of experience in the lab, a degree isn't needed if they have experience.

Summary:

The main function of an analyst scientific is to prepare and analyze environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to scientific and environmental protection methodology in compliance with quality assurance programs and standard operating procedures

Job Responsibilities:

Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices and programs Prepares samples using standard techniques Performs chemical analysis using standard techniques Calculates data Records and reports data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor Performs routine instrument maintenance

Skills:

Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills. Basic ability to train and become competent on complex instrumentation Basic ability to work independently following written or verbal instructions Follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines-Organic preparation-Metals preparation and analysis-Gas chromatography-Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry-Radio chemistry-Wet chemistry-High resolution preparation and analysis-Low resolution preparation and analysis

Education/Experience:

BS or BA in chemistry or related field. 0-2 years experience required.
