Full Job Description Position Overview:
We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Back Office Medical Assistants to join our healthcare team. In this crucial role, you will provide essential support to physicians and healthcare professionals in delivering quality patient care. Your clinical expertise, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills will contribute to maintaining an efficient and patient-centered back office environment.
Responsibilities:
Patient Preparation and Care:
Escort patients to examination rooms, ensuring their comfort and privacy. Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and other pertinent information. Assist with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed by healthcare providers. Prepare and administer medications, injections, and vaccinations under supervision. Collect/prepare specimens and ensure accurate documentation.
Medical Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical documents. Record patient information, medical histories, symptoms, and treatments accurately. Prepare medical charts, forms, and correspondence for patient visits and referrals. Ensure timely and proper documentation of test results, prescriptions, and treatment plans.
Equipment and Supply Management:
Prepare and set up medical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures and examinations. Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of equipment, following infection control protocols. Assist in inventory management, restocking supplies, and identifying equipment needs.
Administrative Support:
Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures. Communicate test results, treatment plans, and instructions to patients as directed by healthcare providers. Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and billing as required. Handle incoming and outgoing patient calls, addressing inquiries and routing messages appropriately. Collaborate with front office staff to ensure efficient patient flow and accurate documentation.
Team Collaboration and Compliance:
Work closely with physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. Adhere to medical policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards. Continuously update knowledge of medical procedures, guidelines, and industry advancements. Participate in professional development activities and training opportunities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree in medical assisting preferred). Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) strongly desired. Proven experience as a back office medical assistant (preferred) Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer skills. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure under pressure. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, collaborating effectively with healthcare professionals and patients. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical and professional standards.
