About Us Newport Beach Dermatology & Plastic Surgery is a well-established, female physician-owned practice with two Southern California locations in Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano. For over 16 years, we have provided comprehensive, personalized care across medical, surgical, cosmetic, and aesthetic dermatology and plastic surgery. Our collaborative team includes board-certified dermatologists, a board-certified plastic surgeon, and experienced physician assistants. We are proud to serve our community and offer a diverse range of services, including skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, Mohs surgery, general and complex dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, laser treatments, injectables, and plastic surgery. Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in dermatology with experience managing a team. This role involves overseeing daily clinical operations, supporting medical staff, and ensuring the delivery of outstanding patient care through efficient medical assisting and administrative support. Responsibilities Support daily clinic operations to maintain efficient patient flow, productivity, and on-time performance. Provide hands-on Medical Assistant coverage and assist with patient care, telephone encounters, lab communications, and other clinical needs during high-volume periods or staffing shortages. Provide lunch, break, and staffing coverage at San Juan Capistrano. location. Ensure exam and procedure rooms are clean, organized, properly stocked, and prepared for patient care. Monitor inventory of medical, office, linen, and clinical supplies and communicate supply needs to management. Operate the autoclave and accurately assemble and maintain clinical procedure kits. Coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for medical equipment, lasers, Fotofinder, and general office equipment. Assist with dermatopathology coordination, biopsy photo communication, clinical documentation, ECW template development, and MIPS compliance. Assist with CLIA compliance, accreditation processes, and other regulatory and administrative workflows. Open and close the office according to established facility standards. Provide leadership, training, coaching, and day-to-day guidance to Medical Assistants. Monitor staff adherence to clinical and operational protocols and identify additional training needs for management. Promote a clean, professional, and well-organized clinical environment while supporting overall team efficiency. Experience Previous work in dermatology as a medical assistant is required. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records is required, experience with Eclinical Works is preferred. Medical Assistant certification or completion of an MA program is preferred. Phlebotomy certification is preferred. Positive, collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medical terminology. Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented with strong prioritization and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to provide occasional coverage at the Newport Beach office to support staffing needs and ensure adequate coverage.
Pay:
From $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
