Job Overview We are seeking a dependable andexperienced Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join an intimate and growing healthcare team. This growing clinic specializes in concierge family medicine. This position starts part-time and will grow into full-time as demand increases. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative and medical tasks within a professional medical office environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clerical and communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and health information management. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a growing practice and gain experience in a concierge medical setting. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression at the front desk. Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software and coordinate with clinical staff. Verify patient insurance information, process payments, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy. Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Athenahealth. Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Assist with patient exams and take vitals. Assist with medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding for billing purposes. Manage phone communication with patients and healthcare providers using proper phone etiquette. Organize filing of medical records, test results, and other clinical documentation. Support clinical staff by preparing care plans and reviewing patient documentation as needed. Perform general clerical duties such as data entry, typing (including 10 key typing), and maintaining office supplies. Qualifications 3+yrs exp. in medical assisting and administrative support within a healthcare setting Knowledge of hospital medicine practices and emergency medicine procedures Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required. Proficiency with EMR/EHR system Athenahealth is preferred. Strong understanding of medical terminology, documentation standards, and pharmacology principles. Ability to perform phlebotomy accurately and efficiently. Familiarity with inpatient procedures such as medication administration and vital sign monitoring. Experience working in hospital environments or Level I/II trauma centers is a plus.
