Job Summary Essence Coastal Clinic (urgent care) is currently seeking an experienced and highly energetic Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Here we are looking for experience in the healthcare field, customer service, task management, and computer-user friendly. In this vital role, you will support clinical operations by providing exceptional patient care, assisting healthcare providers, and ensuring smooth clinic workflows. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute to delivering high-quality medical services in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to continue in developing your skills in various medical settings, including occupational health, triage, and acute care point of testing and medications review. At Essence our mission is to provide high-quality patient care close to home that is accessible and compassionate. Operating hours Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm, closed Sundays and selected holidays. Responsibilities Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for patient visits. Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures Collect and document patient information accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards. Perform vital sign measurements and full triage on patients Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and reporting patient conditions to providers promptly. Handle manual handling tasks safely when assisting with patient mobility or equipment setup in accordance with safety protocols. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role, preferably with clinic experience in diverse settings such as surgical or diagnostic radiology clinics. Critical care experience or acute care background is highly desirable for managing complex patient needs. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, nursing practices, and medical documentation standards. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR is required; additional certifications such as EMR/EHR management are advantageous. Familiarity with blood sampling techniques and diagnostic procedures related to surgery or plastic surgery is preferred. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient service while maintaining professionalism under pressure. Ability to handle manual tasks safely during patient handling or equipment operation while adhering to health and safety regulations.
