Full-Time M-F Position Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) at Total Health & Wellness provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient flow, high-quality care, and exceptional patient experience. The MA performs both front- and back-office duties including patient intake, clinical assistance, documentation, and support for diagnostic and treatment procedures. Clinical Duties Room and prepare patients for provider evaluation Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaint Perform basic clinical procedures (including injections, EKGs, wound care, phlebotomy, urine drug screens, and point-of-care testing) Assist providers with examinations and procedures Prepare and maintain exam rooms and medical equipment Ensure proper infection control and sterilization procedures are followed Provide patient education per provider instructions Document patient care and progress in the electronic medical record (AdvancedMD) Administrative & Documentation Duties Accurately document patient encounters in the EHR Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and follow-up scheduling Communicate with pharmacies, laboratories, and specialists as directed Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA Support clinic workflow to maintain provider schedules and reduce wait times Patient Experience & Customer Service Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional care to patients Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and families Handle sensitive patient situations with professionalism and discretion Assist with patient flow and clinic operations to ensure efficient service Compliance & Safety Follow all clinic policies, OSHA guidelines, and infection control protocols Comply with state and federal healthcare regulations Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and staff training Report safety concerns, incidents, or compliance issues to management Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic health record systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
RELIABILITY
Willingness to learn Preferred Qualifications Experience in primary care, pain management, or family practice- More the better Phlebotomy and EKG experience. Not required Experience with AdvancedMD or similar EHR systems Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare documentation requirements Bilingual (Spanish) preferred - Not required Will train for the right person Physical & Work Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Manual dexterity for clinical procedures Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and medical equipment Ability to adapt to all walks of life with kindness Performance Expectations Maintain accurate and timely documentation Meet clinic productivity and patient satisfaction standards Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, teamwork, and initiative Participate in training and continuing education Uphold Total Health & Wellness mission, vision, and values Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience Health, in facility for you and Immediate family Paid time off after 1 year , holidays paid off.
