Job Description

Pinnacle Plastic Surgery is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. The Medical Assistant will support dermatology providers in delivering excellent patient care by assisting with patient visits, dermatology procedures, clinical documentation, specimen handling, patient education, and daily clinical operations. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, comfortable in a fast-paced medical office, and committed to providing a positive patient experience. Key Responsibilities Clinical Support Room patients and obtain chief complaint, medical history, medications, allergies, and relevant dermatology history. Assist providers during general dermatology visits, skin checks, biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, injections, wound care, and other in-office procedures. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Set up and clean procedure trays using proper sterile or clean technique. Take clinical photographs as directed and in accordance with office policy. Provide post-procedure wound care instructions and patient education as directed by the provider. Remove sutures, change dressings, and assist with wound checks as appropriate. Prepare, label, and process pathology specimens accurately. Maintain exam rooms, procedure rooms, and clinical supply areas. Documentation and Administrative Support Accurately document patient visits in the electronic medical record. Enter patient histories, exam notes, procedure details, orders, and patient instructions as directed by the provider. Assist with prior authorizations, prescription refills, lab/pathology follow-up, and patient phone calls. Track and communicate biopsy/pathology results according to office protocol. Help maintain provider schedules by keeping patient flow efficient and organized. Patient Experience Greet patients professionally and help create a welcoming clinical environment. Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients. Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance at all times. Escalate patient concerns or clinical issues to the provider or supervisor promptly. Compliance and Safety Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and office safety policies. Clean and sterilize instruments according to protocol. Maintain accurate logs for sterilization, medications, samples, and equipment as required. Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and ready for patient care. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Assistant certification, diploma, or relevant clinical experience. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. Excellent communication and patient service skills. Ability to work well with providers, staff, and patients. Basic computer skills and comfort using an electronic medical record system. Preferred Prior dermatology experience. Experience with dermatology procedures, biopsies, excisions, pathology processing, and suture removal. Experience with ModMed or another dermatology EMR. Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to assist with patient positioning and clinical procedures. Ability to lift or move supplies and equipment as needed. Manual dexterity for assisting with procedures, instrument handling, and specimen processing. Schedule This is a full-time position consisting of four 10-hour workdays per week. Specific days and hours may vary based on provider schedules and office needs. Compensation and Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience.
