Solid‑color scrubs About the Role The Medical Assistant supports daily clinical operations by delivering high‑quality patient care, performing diagnostic and administrative tasks, and ensuring efficient provider workflow. This role requires strong clinical competency, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and patient‑centered environment. Top Responsibilities Patient Support — Provide patients with information, services, and assistance throughout their visit. Medication Administration — Administer medications and injections under provider direction. Venipuncture — Perform blood draws for laboratory testing. Diagnostic Testing — Conduct EKGs, spirometry, flu tests, and strep tests. Supply & Equipment Management — Maintain medical supply inventory; perform preventive maintenance; troubleshoot equipment issues; coordinate repairs. Patient Intake — Verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm visit purpose. Pre‑Exam Preparation — Take vital signs (BP, weight, temperature), perform preliminary physical tests, and summarize patient history for providers. Clinical Procedure Support — Assist providers with office procedures to improve workflow efficiency. Confidentiality & Compliance — Protect patient information and adhere to HIPAA and legal regulations. Referral Processing — Coordinate and process patient referrals. Workplace Safety — Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by following standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Inventory Oversight — Track stock levels, place supply orders, and verify deliveries. Professional Development — Stay current by participating in educational opportunities and reviewing professional publications. Practice Representation — Uphold professional standards and contribute to practice improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent adult education program. Medical Assistant diploma, technical certificate, or 3+ years of on‑the‑job MA experience performing critical MA skills.
Active MA certification:
CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or
RMA . CPR
certification upon hire or within 30 days. Preferred Skills & Experience Clinical Experience — 1+ years in a clinical setting. MA or EMT Background — Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or
EMT. EMR
Proficiency — Experience using electronic medical record systems. Back Office Skills — Vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis, medication administration. Front Office Skills — Scheduling, prior authorizations, medication refills, referral coordination.
