Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our clinical team at the staff level. The ideal candidate is compassionate, well-organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare setting while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. This role demands a strong educational and medical foundation to provide preventive medicine coaching, supporting patients in making wise choices and adhering to proven treatment options. It requires a firm commitment to our functional vision of building a highly technology- and AI-driven progressive nephrology practice. Key Responsibilities Patient Intake, Clinical Support & Education Room patients by bringing them from the waiting area to exam rooms efficiently. Accurately measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and respiration. Gather and document comprehensive patient health histories to support provider evaluation and treatment planning.
Educational Focus:
Provide heavily education-driven preventive medicine coaching to patients during clinic visits based on established clinical guidelines. Deliver "Unreasonable Hospitality" by allowing AI to provide the memory (data, preferences, patterns) while you provide the Heart (empathy, judgment, personal connection). Model peer accountability and direct, positive communication as part of our high-flow clinical culture. Specimen Collection & Lab Support If certified: Perform phlebotomy, including drawing blood, labeling specimens, and preparing samples for laboratory processing. Collect and process urine samples according to clinic protocols. Patient Communication & Care Coordination Contact patients to relay provider-approved test results and follow-up instructions. Answer incoming phone calls and communications, assisting patients and coordinating with other offices as needed. Process medication refill requests based on provider-approved medication lists and established protocols. Prepare and send referrals to specialists, imaging centers, or other healthcare providers. Maintain continued long-term patient engagement, monitoring, and coaching as part of our comprehensive Chronic Care Management program. Actively engage in technology by asking daily: "What did I do manually today that AI could help with?" Utilize data over opinion to identify root causes and track patient outcomes effectively. Qualifications Proficient patient care skills, including collecting vital signs and taking health histories. Proficient computer and internet skills, paired with a strong readiness to adopt AI and automated clinical systems. An independent thinker with the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates for optimal patient outcomes. An outgoing, vibrant personality with a patient-centered attitude. Strong communication and documentation skills with close attention to detail. Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a busy clinical environment.
