Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Medical Coder specializing in Home Health to join our healthcare team. We have offices in Monroe, Ruston, Minden and Shreveport, and you may choose to work at any one of them. We would welcome an RN who wants to do coding. This role involves accurately coding medical records to ensure proper billing and reimbursement processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of medical coding standards, including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10, along with experience working with EMR and EHR systems. This position offers flexibility for remote work while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance in medical documentation. Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records related to home health services to assign appropriate ICD, CPT, and DRG codes. Ensure accurate coding in accordance with current coding guidelines and regulations. Update and maintain detailed documentation within EMR/EHR systems. Collaborate with billing and collections teams to facilitate smooth revenue cycle management. Maintain compliance with all healthcare regulations regarding medical records and coding standards. Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to medical coding or documentation. Stay current with updates in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG coding systems through ongoing education. Qualifications Proven experience in medical coding, particularly within home health settings. Strong knowledge of
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, and DRG classifications. Familiarity with medical billing and collection processes. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems is essential. Excellent understanding of medical terminology and medical records management. Prior experience in a medical office environment is preferred. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent is a plus but not required.
