Job Description

Job Summary We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Coding Specialist to perform accurate code assignments for facility inpatient/outpatient, Swing Bed, same day surgery and observation records as well as Rural Health Clinic. Duties Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) guidelines. Utilize ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG coding systems to ensure precise billing for inpatient and outpatient services. Ensure compliance with medical coding guidelines and maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in coding standards. Collaborate with medical office staff to verify completeness of documentation for accurate coding. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems for billing, coding, and record-keeping purposes. Maintain detailed documentation of coding activities and stay current on industry best practices in medical record abstraction and coding software. Qualifications AHIMA or AAPC certification. Inpatient/outpatient coding experience in a Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health clinic setting is preferred. Experience accurately assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to a variety of facility outpatient records and coding inpatient/Swing bed records. Experience coding EGD & Colonoscopies. Experience coding injections and infusions in the ER, outpatient and observations setting. Technical competency with remote-based connectivity including virtual private networks, multi-factor authentication via smartphone, and video conferencing platforms. Proficiency with office software including Outlook email for communication, calendar for meeting attendance, and Excel spreadsheets for data management. A committed regular schedule is required with expectations for reliable and punctual attendance. Meet productivity targets while maintaining coding quality of 95% or greater. $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
