Contract position for behavioral health agency (www.dafpbci.org). Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County, Inc. (DAF) is looking for a passionate physician to provide services to our clients in a variety of treatment modalities, including residential, detoxification, and outpatient settings. Physicians at DAF supervise mid-level (PA/NP) providers and work closely with nursing and other front line/paraprofessional staff to provide effective care.

Tasks include:

Medical clearance exams, medication reviews, sick visits, prescriptions, medication orders, on-call and documentation review. •Local Candidates only •

General Conditions:

Must be flexible/days/hours during week/week end; Must be able to pass Level 1 & 2 Criminal Background checks

Education:

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree required.

Experience:

Previous experience in a public health organization is preferred, but not required; Experience in substance abuse/addiction preferred

Licensure:

Unrestricted license from the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine or the Florida Medical Board. License must be in good standing.

Registrations:

Drug Enforcement Agency Controlled Substance Registration including schedules: 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5, along with buprenorphine waiver.

Training:

Current Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers required. Demonstrates current knowledge of general medicine and ongoing professional development.

Job Description Detail:

A. Case Consultation Provide case consultation including a summary client assessment on clients identified by program. Case consultations are direct interviews with clients relating to presenting issues identified by clinical personnel. B. Medical Clearance Exam Review general medical history questionnaire completed by screening personnel. Review medical clearance, medical examinations and histories. Conduct physical exam to determine client current medical status and whether client is within the safe management of Foundation treatment program. Also determine client's current medical needs and whether such needs must be met

COMPLETING RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM.

This is a face-to-face visit between physician and client. Physician must complete a physical exam form including all appropriate medical recommendations and treatment plans as needed. C. Medication Review This service includes a review of the client's case and generally will include a face- to-face visit to review medication appropriateness, to review client's desire to stop taking medication, to review client concerns about side effects—this review of medication will be limited to psychotropic medication and medications used to address side effects to psychotropic medications. D. Special Med Review This is a medication review that is the result of client's desire to discontinue or change his/her medications—this is always a face-to-face visit and will occur outside of the regular monthly medication review cycle. E. Physician Sick Visit This is a face-to-face visit between physician and client resulting from client medical request, nurse recommended visit or a follow-up to a medical emergency. Physician must conduct appropriate medical examination to evaluate presenting problem. Physician must complete a Physician Service Authorization Form including all appropriate recommendations and instructions for nursing staff. Prescription/Med Supplies While it is the Foundation's policy to secure prescriptions and other special medical supplies that a client may require through their own resources, personal physician and/or public health unit.
