This position reports to the Regional Chief Physician Executive and will oversee critical care, pulmonary and respiratory services, providing clinical operational, quality, workforce and strategic leadership for the ICU, Pulmonology/Critical Care physician group, Advanced Practice Providers, and Respiratory Therapy services. Now's a great time to join East Hawaii Medical Group! Hilo Benioff Medical Center is in the final phase of a 55-bed addition to its acute facility, including a new 19-bed intensive care unit.
Work Schedule:

Key Responsibilities:
Provide physician leadership for critical care, pulmonology and respiratory services, including: Lead implementation and maturation of closed ICU model Support activation and operation of the new 19-bed ICU Serve as a physician advisor to Respiratory Therapy services and physician leader to pulmonary/critical care physicians and APPs Advance quality, patient safety, physician engagement and service line development Provide expert diagnosis, treatment and management for ICU patients including cardiac, trauma, medical and surgical patients. Perform all critical care procedures including POCUS, intubation, thoracentesis, paracentesis, LPs and life support access catheters. Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations and end of life/goals of care discussions. Diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, preferences, and medical history. Collaborate closely with healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care. Document patient encounters, treatment plans, procedures and follow-up recommendations accurately and timely in the electronic health record system.
