Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is a 120-bed acute psychiatric care facility located in Flowood, Mississippi. We are accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and certified by Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE®. We provide psychiatric treatment for depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, phobia and more. It is important these issues get treated so individuals are able to lead a healthy and happy life. Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Director of Health Information Management (HIM) / Medical Records to lead our health information management department. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of medical records administration, healthcare privacy regulations, and electronic health records systems. This leadership role offers an opportunity to oversee the integrity, security, and compliance of medical documentation while supporting clinical operations and revenue cycle management. Duties Oversee the daily operations of the health information management department, ensuring accurate and timely medical records processing. Develop and implement policies to ensure compliance with healthcare privacy protection laws, clinical confidentiality policies, and health information regulatory standards. Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation practices, including medical coding and records management. Monitor adherence to healthcare privacy regulations, including HIPAA, safeguarding patient information at all times. Lead efforts in revenue cycle management by ensuring accurate coding, billing documentation, and record retention procedures. Provide training and support to staff on health information management best practices, including medical terminology and regulatory compliance. Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting, documentation, and communication purposes. Extensive knowledge of health information management principles, medical records procedures, and healthcare privacy regulations. Familiarity with EHR systems, EMR/EHR workflows, and health information technology tools. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding practices, and clinical confidentiality policies. Experience in healthcare regulatory compliance (Joint Commission) related to health information management standards. Excellent customer service skills to collaborate effectively with clinical teams and administrative staff. Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
Requirements Education:
Associate's Degree in related field is required. Bachelor's Degree in Information Management / Medical Records preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years leadership experience in information management is required, with direct experience in a health care psychiatric facility preferred. Thorough knowledge of medical records coding and medical terminology required.
Licensure:
Certification accreditation as a registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), as determined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
