$280,000-$325,000 annually, plus performance incentives Lead the Next Chapter of a Growing Mental Health Organization A respected and rapidly expanding outpatient mental health organization in Westbury, New York is seeking an accomplished Medical Director to lead clinical operations, strengthen care delivery, and help shape the organization's continued growth. This is a highly visible executive leadership opportunity for a physician who wants to do more than maintain an existing program. The incoming Medical Director will have the authority to influence clinical strategy, elevate quality standards, mentor a multidisciplinary provider team, and build scalable systems that support exceptional patient care. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Medical Director will oversee a growing team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, and behavioral health professionals across outpatient services. What You Will LeadClinical Strategy and Medical Leadership Serve as the organization's senior clinical authority for outpatient psychiatric services. Develop and advance the clinical strategy across current and future programs. Partner closely with executive and operational leadership on organizational planning and decision-making. Establish consistent, evidence-based standards of care across the organization. Promote treatment models focused on quality, continuity of care, accessibility, and measurable patient outcomes. Provide direct clinical guidance in complex, high-risk, or escalated patient-care situations. Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management Lead quality-improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes, documentation, clinical consistency, and provider performance. Ensure compliance with applicable New York State, federal, payer, and healthcare accreditation requirements. Maintain organizational readiness for audits, reviews, and regulatory inspections. Oversee peer-review processes, clinical risk management, and corrective-action planning. Monitor clinical documentation, prescribing standards, treatment planning, and continuity-of-care practices. Use clinical data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. Provider Leadership and Development Supervise, mentor, and support psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other clinical professionals. Establish clear expectations for clinical quality, productivity, professionalism, and accountability. Participate in the recruitment, evaluation, onboarding, and retention of medical providers. Support provider development through coaching, case consultation, continuing education, and performance feedback. Foster a collaborative environment built around clinical excellence, transparency, and continuous learning. Operational and Program Innovation Collaborate with operational leadership to improve clinical workflows, scheduling, patient access, and provider utilization. Support the effective use of electronic medical records, telepsychiatry systems, and emerging clinical technologies. Help design and launch new psychiatric services, specialty programs, and community-based initiatives. Contribute to regional growth, multi-site expansion, and the development of scalable care-delivery models. Translate clinical data into practical recommendations for executive leadership. Balance excellent patient care with responsible operational and financial performance. Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. Active and unrestricted New York State medical license, or the ability to obtain one promptly. Board Certification in Psychiatry. Adult Psychiatry certification is required; Child and Adolescent Psychiatry experience or certification is considered a strong asset. Minimum of seven years of clinical practice experience. At least three years of experience in a Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, Department Chair, or comparable senior clinical leadership position. Demonstrated success within a high-volume outpatient behavioral health or psychiatric environment. Strong knowledge of clinical quality standards, regulatory compliance, risk management, and provider oversight. Experience leading psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and multidisciplinary behavioral health teams. Familiarity with value-based care, quality metrics, utilization management, or performance-based clinical models is preferred. Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, judgment, and relationship-management skills. Ability to work onsite in Westbury, New York.
Compensation and Executive Benefits Base Salary:
$280,000-$325,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
