About the Position Scituate Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Hospital Administrator to work closely with the Practice Owner/Medical Director. This position will focus primarily on HR, payroll, employee administration, client concerns, and general practice administration. We are looking for a dependable, organized, and people-oriented professional who can handle sensitive situations, follow through on responsibilities, and provide strong administrative support to the practice. Location Located in historic North Scituate Village, Scituate sits on the Scituate Reservoir and is conveniently located 20 minutes from Providence, RI. Providence offers both residents and visitors a thriving art community, a renowned restaurant scene, and numerous activities to see and do. From performing arts to historical tours, food festivals to local shops and boutiques, here in Providence there is something for everyone to enjoy! Practice Overview Scituate Animal Hospital is a privately owned, 2 doctor full-service, small animal hospital. We have been living out our motto of being "Your other family doctor." in our rural community since 1969. Our team takes a collaborative approach and treats not only one another like family but also each patient and their owner too. We are committed to providing top-notch preventative, wellness, and general surgical care to each patient we treat. In 2017, we renovated our hospital to not only expand our space, but to update our equipment to be best the on the market too. Key Responsibilities Manage payroll, including timekeeping, PTO, payroll adjustments, and coordination with the payroll provider. Maintain confidential employee records and HR documentation. Manage and facility regulation requirements and coordinate equipment maintenance. Coordinate hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, benefits, and employee departures. Support the Practice Owner with employee relations, performance issues, and personnel matters. Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies and workplace concerns. Work closely with the Practice Owner on staffing, administrative matters, and special projects. Handle escalated client questions, complaints, and concerns and work with the appropriate team members toward resolution. Support the client service team and medical team as needed. Assist with scheduling, supplies, vendors, facility needs, and other day-to-day administrative tasks. Identify issues that need leadership attention and communicate them to the Practice Owner. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in HR, management, healthcare administration, practice management, or a related field. Veterinary or healthcare experience preferred. Payroll and employee-management experience required. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent judgment and discretion when handling confidential matters. Comfortable addressing difficult employee and client situations. Proficient with payroll/HR software and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. Veterinary practice-management software experience is a plus. What's In It For You
