Job Summary The Windham County Humane Society is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Canine Supervisor to lead our canine department. This hands-on leadership role oversees the daily care and welfare of shelter dogs while supervising Canine Technicians, coordinating medical and behavioral care, supporting adoptions, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent organizational skills, a passion for animal welfare, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced shelter environment. This position plays a vital role in ensuring every dog receives exceptional care while fostering a positive, collaborative team culture. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the daily operations of the canine department. Ensure all dogs receive exceptional daily care, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, exercise, and behavioral support. Supervise, train, mentor, and provide accountability for Canine Technicians and volunteers. Coordinate canine medical care, including vaccinations, medications, surgeries, and ongoing treatments. Monitor canine health and behavior, implementing individualized care and enrichment plans as needed. Oversee the canine adoption program, conduct adoption counseling, and support foster placements. Maintain accurate records using PetPoint and ensure all documentation is completed thoroughly and on time. Ensure compliance with shelter policies, sanitation protocols, and animal welfare best practices. Maintain inventory of canine supplies and assist with departmental planning and reporting. Foster a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment while serving as a role model for professionalism and compassionate animal care. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience working in animal welfare, veterinary medicine, or a professional canine care setting (supervisory experience preferred). Strong knowledge of canine behavior, handling, enrichment, and basic medical care. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and coach a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience with shelter management software, such as PetPoint , is preferred. Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical duties required in a shelter environment. Must be dependable, adaptable, and committed to providing exceptional care for both animals and the people who love them.

Pay:

$20.00 per hour
