The Insurance Specialist will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage, authorizations and referrals. Duties Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services rendered. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and record management. Assist in coding medical records using ICD-9 and ICD-10 standards. Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for claims processing. Maintain organized records of all insurance transactions and communications. Skills Proficiency in medical terminology related to both medical practices. Experience working in a medical office office environment is preferred. Familiarity with managed care systems and processes. Strong understanding of medical coding, particularly ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is upheld. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
