This is an entry-level position ideal for someone who is organized, comfortable working with confidential information, and interested in building a career in healthcare administration. The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, scanning and filing medical documentation, processing record requests, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Medical Records Department. Training will be provided. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain, organize, and update electronic and paper medical records. Scan and index medical documents into the electronic medical record system. Verify that documents are filed accurately and associated with the correct patient. Process medical record requests in accordance with company policies and applicable privacy requirements. Retrieve and distribute medical records and documentation as requested. Assist with filing, copying, faxing, and other administrative tasks. Review records for completeness and identify missing or incorrectly filed documentation. Handle patient information in a confidential and professional manner. Follow HIPAA and company policies regarding the privacy and security of protected health information. Communicate with clinical and administrative staff regarding medical record needs. Maintain an organized and efficient work area. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical records or healthcare experience is preferred but not required. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and time-management skills. Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Professional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable attendance and dependable work habits. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and file records. Ability to lift and move boxes of medical records or supplies as needed.
