Responsible for maintaining, organizing, and processing patient medical records in accordance with hospital policies and applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements. Ensures medical records are accurate, complete, properly filed, and readily accessible to authorized personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and organize electronic and paper medical records. Scan, index, file, and retrieve patient medical documentation. Review records for completeness and accuracy. Process requests for medical records while protecting patient confidentiality. Verify patient information and ensure records are properly identified. Assist medical staff and authorized personnel with locating patient records. Enter and update information accurately in electronic medical record systems. Follow HIPAA regulations and hospital policies regarding patient privacy. Communicate professionally with patients, staff, physicians, and outside agencies. Maintain accurate documentation and complete assigned tasks within required timeframes. Perform other duties as assigned.
