Job Description

Spine Center of Texas is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Medical Billing & Medical Records Specialist to join our team in our Seguin office . We are looking for someone with strong experience in medical billing, insurance follow-up, accounts receivable (A/R), and medical records management . This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate claim submission, timely reimbursement, and efficient processing of medical records while providing excellent support to our providers and patients. Responsibilities Submit and monitor medical claims to commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and Workers' Compensation carriers. Perform aggressive insurance follow-up on unpaid, denied, and underpaid claims. Research claim denials and prepare corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals. Work and manage assigned Accounts Receivable (A/R) to maximize collections. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for office visits, procedures, and surgeries. Review documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to claim submission. Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to resolve documentation or coding discrepancies. Maintain accurate patient medical records and process requests for medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Upload, organize, and maintain electronic medical records. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations. Communicate professionally with insurance companies, patients, and providers regarding billing and medical record requests. Assist with other administrative duties as needed. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience required. Accounts Receivable (A/R) experience is required. Experience working medical claim denials, appeals, and insurance follow-up. Medical records experience preferred. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding principles. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software. Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance guidelines. Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced medical office. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Orthopedic, spine, pain management, or surgical practice experience is a plus.
