Job Description

### Become a Key Player as an Interim HIM Director You will lead and manage Health Information Management operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant medical records and coding. You will partner with the Director of Revenue Cycle, the CFO, clinical teams, and committee members to improve HIM performance, reduce incomplete charts, and support revenue cycle objectives. This role has responsibility for supervising clerical, coding, and transcription staff and driving process and quality improvements. ### Here's How You'll Make an Impact on the Team
  • Manage all activities of the HIM department, including clerical, chart completion, coding, release of information, transcription, and outside chart storage vendors
  • Supervise, recruit, hire, discipline, coach, and develop HIM staff; assign and prioritize workloads to meet productivity and turnaround goals
  • Monitor HIM Key Performance Indicators and produce monthly productivity reports to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, CMS, The Joint Commission, and payer requirements; update and enforce departmental policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and support Medical Record Committee activities and participate in hospital committees/task forces as assigned
  • Oversee time and attendance, productivity monitoring, job performance evaluations, and staffing assignments
  • Support budget input for personnel, operating, and capital expenses and recommend cost-containment measures
  • Assist with testing and implementation of new HIM software, processes, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide in-services and training on HIM topics; maintain and update job descriptions ### Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful in This Role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
  • Four (4) years of supervisory or management experience and four (4) years of progressive HIM management experience (including budget development, staff responsibilities, goal setting, quality improvement, and project management)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-10 and
CPT/HCPCS
coding/billing procedures and familiarity with UB-04, HCFA-1500, and ADA billing forms
  • Proficiency with multiple data systems and experience using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational leadership, team building, and customer service skills
  • Ability to plan and lead meetings/trainings, work under pressure, make quality decisions, and motivate teams
  • Successful background, reference, and clearance checks as required ### Here's What Else Might Help You Out
  • Master's Degree in Health Information Management, Business Administration, or related business field (Finance, Accounting, Administration)
