Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical documentation, coding standards, and health information management. As a Medical Records Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with medical coding guidelines, and supporting billing and insurance processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to efficient health information management while working in a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities Accurately organize, file, and maintain patient medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems and paper formats, ensuring confidentiality at all times. Review and update medical records with relevant clinical information, including diagnoses, treatments, and procedures using
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, and DRG classifications. Ensure proper coding for inpatient and outpatient services according to medical coding guidelines to facilitate billing and reimbursement processes. Collaborate with billing departments to support electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes. Assist with insurance third-party billing by verifying insurance information and processing health insurance claims efficiently. Support revenue cycle management by ensuring accurate documentation that aligns with medical collection procedures. Maintain knowledge of health insurance claim processing requirements and stay current with updates in ICD coding standards and medical terminology. Contribute to compliance efforts by adhering to legal regulations related to medical records privacy and security. Skills Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records related to billing and coding. Strong understanding of
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, DRG classifications, and medical coding guidelines for inpatient services. Experience with medical billing, medical collection processes, and health insurance claim processing. Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare regulations, and revenue cycle management practices. Familiarity with billing software applications used in healthcare settings. Prior experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare facility is highly desirable. Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance. Pay:
$15.50 - $18.00 per hour
