Job Description:
Responsible for processing a high volume of medical records request, maintaining electronic health records, and ensuring full compliance with
HIPPA, 42 CFR
Part 2, and applicable state and federal regulations. Office based setting with frequent computer use, may require for sitting for extended periods. Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.) and travel between sites may be required
Job Responsibilities:
Will work Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
Competencies:
Process and respond to medical records requests in a timely and professional manner. Review and verify Releases of Information (ROI) for completeness, accuracy and legal sufficiency. Retrieve, scan, and upload records into the electronic health record system. Maintain accurate logs of all record requests and disclosures. A strong understanding of
HIPPA, 42 CFR
Part 2, and organizational policies. Assist with subpoenas and legal requests: may attend court as needed. Communicate with providers, clients, and external partners to obtain or clarify documentation. Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
One of the following:
Eligibility for AHIMA certifications as a Medical Records Technician; OR two years of experience in a medical records setting; OR one year of experience as a Medical Records Technician I or equivalent. Minimum of five years of office or administrative experience required. Experience in behavioral health or human services preferred. Associate or Bachelor's in a related field preferred.
