This day shift position works Monday through Friday The Health Information Management Clerk Analyst performs tasks, including but not limited to retrieving and analyzing daily discharges in order to process the chart for completion, answer phone, assist providers, and other departments in completion of incomplete medical records. Performs quality improvement projects and follow departmental and hospital policies.
Experience and Education:
Minimum:
Basic working knowledge of computer systems, have proficient English/grammar skills, excellent people and typing skills. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful, but not required. Previous work experience in hospital setting or medical office desirable, but not required
Preferred:
High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required Personal technology device to download DUO application to enable access to hospital email by multi-factor authentication. Greets customer promptly and courteously. Offers assistance immediately or seeks assistance from other personnel. Remains courteous throughout interaction. Follows the Bates County Memorial Hospital Standards of Behavior. Utilizes AIDET. Reports to Supervisor and/or Director concerns regarding possible abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults and pediatrics. Recognizes signs of abuse including physical, emotional, sexual, financial, and domestic or signs of neglect. Appropriately reports. Safely operates equipment in the work area including, but not limited to, copier, printer, fax, or desktop computer system. Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot problems. Communicates effectively with others and works collaboratively toward department goals. Able to gain support from others as well as provide support when needed. Maintains positive approach and constructive working relationships, even in the face of conflict. Communicates effectively with providers and other departments in completing medical records timely. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to navigate through various computer software including Microsoft Office Systems (ie. Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record (EHR), Time and Attendance System, CareLearning, LaserFiche, Outlook and Teams. Demonstrates knowledge to perform pertinent duties in the event of computer system(s) downtimes. Demonstrates the ability to use initiative and use sound judgement in collecting and analyzing medical record data. Demonstrates the ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions. Demonstrates the ability to multi-task between assignments. Delivers clear, direct messages. Uses appropriate vocabulary. Demonstrates understanding of information. Conveys ideas in logical manner. Speaks with appropriate pace and inflection. Uses congruent nonverbal communication. Adheres to all hospital and departmental rules, regulations, and policies. Operates within the scope of the designated position. Respects patient confidentiality and privacy according to the HIPAA Act. Identifies and appropriately report hazards. Follows safety procedures and responds appropriately to emergency situations. Complies with all fire safety requirements.
