PRIOR HOSPICE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Job Summary Community Care Hospice is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented On-Call Intake Receptionist to join our growing team! This part-time position is ideal for an individual who is experienced in hospice admissions, insurance verification, or medical office operations and is looking for a flexible, on-call schedule. The On-Call Intake Receptionist serves as one of the first points of contact for patients, families, referral sources, and healthcare providers. This role is responsible for coordinating new hospice referrals, verifying insurance eligibility, resolving insurance-related issues, and ensuring timely communication with our clinical team. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and able to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment while providing exceptional customer service. This position primarily covers weekend on-call shifts , with additional weekday coverage available as needed. Responsibilities Answer incoming calls in a professional, compassionate, and timely manner. Receive and process new hospice referrals from hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, physicians, and community partners. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, including Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medi-Cal, and commercial insurance plans. Assist with resolving insurance-related issues, authorization requirements, and coverage questions. Gather and accurately document patient demographic, clinical, and insurance information. Coordinate with the clinical team to facilitate timely admissions. Communicate effectively with referral sources, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring HIPAA compliance. Escalate urgent clinical matters to the appropriate on-call staff. Provide excellent customer service while representing Community Care Hospice in a professional manner. Requirements Previous experience in a hospice, home health, medical office, or healthcare intake role preferred. Knowledge of hospice admissions, insurance verification, and healthcare payer systems strongly preferred. Familiarity with Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medi-Cal, and commercial insurance plans. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Proficient computer and data entry skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Weekend availability is required, with weekday on-call availability preferred.
