In-Person, Primary Care Medical Office Job Overview Romulus Primary Care Services is seeking a professional, dependable, detail-oriented Medical Front Desk Receptionist to join our healthcare team on a full-time basis. In this important role, you will serve as one of the first points of contact for our patients and visitors. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service while efficiently managing front-office and administrative responsibilities that help support smooth daily clinic operations. We are looking for someone who is friendly, organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced primary care environment, and able to communicate professionally with patients, providers, insurance companies, pharmacies, and other healthcare offices. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures. Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments. Answer incoming phone calls professionally and route messages appropriately. Verify patient demographics and update information as needed. Verify insurance eligibility and coverage, including commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid when applicable. Collect copays, deductibles, self-pay payments, and outstanding patient balances. Assist patients with general billing and insurance questions and direct more complex concerns to the appropriate staff member. Enter and maintain accurate patient information in the electronic medical record/EHR system. Scan and upload identification, insurance cards, medical records, forms, referrals, and other documentation. Send and receive faxes, medical records, and other healthcare documents. Assist with referrals, prior authorization follow-up, and other administrative patient-care coordination tasks as assigned. Communicate with pharmacies, specialists, insurance companies, laboratories, and other healthcare offices as needed. Assist patients with forms and general office questions. Maintain accurate filing and documentation systems. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and reception area. Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff regarding patient needs. Assist with other front-office and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Previous experience as a medical receptionist, medical front desk representative, or in a healthcare office is preferred. Primary care or outpatient clinic experience is highly preferred. Experience with EMR/EHR systems is preferred. Familiarity with insurance verification, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans is helpful. Basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Strong customer service skills and professional phone etiquette. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical office environment. Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills. Comfortable using computers, email, Microsoft Office, scanners, fax systems, and general office equipment. Ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially and comply with HIPAA regulations. Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work well with a team. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
