Medical Receptionist - Rheumatology Clinic Full‑Time On‑Site Competitive Pay + Benefits Our busy, patient‑centered rheumatology practice is seeking a professional, friendly, and highly organized Medical Receptionist to join our front office team. This role is essential to creating a smooth, supportive experience for patients managing chronic autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions. About the Role As the first point of contact, you will provide exceptional customer service, manage daily front‑desk operations, and support a multi‑provider rheumatology team. You'll handle scheduling, check‑in/check‑out, insurance verification, and communication with patients, providers, and referring offices. This position requires accuracy, compassion, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced specialty environment. Key Responsibilities Front Desk & Patient Support Greet patients warmly and check them in/out efficiently Answer multi‑line phones and route calls appropriately Schedule new and established patient appointments Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office Insurance & Financial Tasks Verify insurance benefits and collect copays, deductibles, and balances Explain basic insurance terms to patients (copay, deductible, coinsurance) Scan insurance cards, IDs, and required documents Follow practice policies for payment collection and financial discussions Administrative & Clinical Support Manage referrals, records requests, and incoming faxes Ensure accurate data entry into the EHR Communicate professionally with patients experiencing chronic pain or mobility limitations Coordinate with infusion, lab, and imaging departments as needed
Qualifications Required:
1+ year of medical office or customer service experience Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment Basic understanding of insurance (copay, deductible, prior authorization) Comfort using EHR systems and office technology
Preferred:
