Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist, where your energetic and organized approach will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. In this vital role, you will manage front desk operations, coordinate appointments, handle patient inquiries, and support medical administrative functions with precision and care. Your proactive attitude and attention to detail will ensure a smooth patient experience and efficient clinic operations. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality healthcare delivery while developing your skills in medical office management. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring excellent customer service and professional phone etiquette across multi-line phone systems. Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures for Medicare, Medicaid, private insurers, and other payers. Collect patient information and update medical records while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Assist with intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and explaining clinic policies to patients. Manage medical documentation review, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and billing processes to support accurate medical collection efforts. Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and handle clerical tasks such as data entry, faxing, scanning, and managing office supplies. Support medical office management by coordinating with healthcare providers on appointment scheduling and patient flow. Skills Strong knowledge of EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth. Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and familiarity with Medicare guidelines for accurate billing and documentation review. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software. Exceptional patient service skills with a friendly demeanor and professional phone etiquette in a fast-paced environment. Prior clinic experience is preferred; familiarity with medical terminology or hospital experience is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures compliance with privacy standards; experience with insurance verification processes is beneficial. Strong organizational skills for filing, managing medical records, and handling multi-tasking duties efficiently.
