Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional front desk and administrative support within a busy medical office environment. This role requires proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems with a strong emphasis on patient service, confidentiality, and accurate documentation review. Bilingual skills (not required) and clinic experience are highly valued to ensure effective communication with diverse patient populations. The ASC Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in maintaining smooth clinic operations and delivering excellent patient care. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally at the front desk, ensuring a positive patient experience. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification processes efficiently. Collect payments and perform medical collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage multi-line phone systems, handle patient inquiries with proper phone etiquette, and direct calls appropriately. Maintain accurate medical records, including filing and data entry using Microsoft Office and other office management software. Assist with intake procedures for new and returning patients while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Manage appointment scheduling efficiently to optimize clinic flow and reduce wait times. Ensure compliance with health information management standards and maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI). Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records. Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and support administrative functions related to medical office management. Skills Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, and medical billing procedures. Familiarity with health information management standards and HIPAA compliance requirements. Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette across multi-line phone systems. . Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with strong typing skills (including 10 key typing). Experience in a medical office environments is highly desirable; clinic or hospital experience is a plus. Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and data entry. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
