Dental Land Pediatrics is seeking a dependable, professional, detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our pediatric dental practice in Bowie, Maryland. We are looking for someone who is organized, communicates well, follows instructions carefully, and understands the importance of accuracy when working with patient information and dental records. This position requires much more than answering phones and scheduling appointments. Our receptionist is an important part of the patient experience and is responsible for helping ensure that our front office operates accurately, efficiently, and professionally. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Has excellent spelling, grammar, written communication, and proofreading skills Pays close attention to details and checks their work before completing a task Can follow established office policies, procedures, and written instructions consistently Is dependable, punctual, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities Communicates professionally and pleasantly with parents, patients, coworkers, insurance companies, and other healthcare offices Is comfortable using computers and learning dental software Can work independently after appropriate training Is willing to learn and take responsibility for assigned duties Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Answering incoming telephone calls and assisting parents professionally Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments Following office scheduling guidelines and appointment protocols Checking patients in and out Verifying and updating patient demographic information Entering information accurately into the patient's electronic dental record Managing new-patient registration and required forms Obtaining and verifying dental insurance information Reviewing insurance benefits and assisting with estimates when applicable Collecting patient balances and copayments Providing receipts and other requested documents Maintaining accurate appointment notes and administrative documentation Communicating with parents regarding appointments, forms, treatment plans, and office policies Sending and receiving secure patient correspondence Managing patient records and records requests Working with clinical staff to maintain an efficient patient schedule Following HIPAA requirements and maintaining patient confidentiality Completing assigned front-office administrative duties Following written checklists, workflows, and office policies Experience with Dentrix is strongly preferred. Candidates should be comfortable working with: Electronic dental records Appointment scheduling software Email Microsoft Office Scanning and uploading documents Electronic forms Dental insurance information Online patient communication systems
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong spelling and proofreading ability Strong computer skills Excellent attention to detail Professional telephone etiquette Ability to multitask in a busy pediatric dental environment Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to maintain confidential patient information Ability to follow detailed office procedures and checklists
