Job Description

Levin Eyecare is seeking a dependable, motivated, and patient-focused individual to join our team as a Patient Services Representative/Ophthalmic Technician. This hybrid position combines front-desk responsibilities with clinical support for our optometry—and potentially ophthalmology—providers. As one of the first people our patients meet, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and professional experience. The ideal candidate provides excellent customer service, pays close attention to detail, works well with a team, and demonstrates exceptional reliability and attendance. Schedule and Locations This is a full-time position offering: Four-day workweek No weekends
Hours:
8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Anticipated workdays:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday Coverage at our Parkville, Perry Hall, and Bel Air locations Candidates must be willing and able to travel between these three locations based on scheduling and patient-care needs. Primary ResponsibilitiesPatient Services and Front Desk Greet and check in patients while creating a positive and welcoming experience. Schedule patient appointments and accurately manage the appointment calendar. Verify insurance coverage and collect applicable copayments, deductibles, and patient balances. Maintain accurate patient records and update demographic and insurance information as needed. Answer incoming calls, respond to patient questions, and direct calls appropriately. Perform administrative tasks, including filing, faxing, scanning, and processing documents. Protect patient privacy and confidentiality by following HIPAA requirements. Communicate professionally with patients, providers, coworkers, and other healthcare offices. Support efficient patient flow and daily office operations. Clinical and Technician Support Assist with patient workups for optometry and, when needed, ophthalmology appointments. Obtain and document patient histories and preliminary testing information. Perform ophthalmic testing and measurements after appropriate training. Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient care. Accurately enter clinical information into the electronic medical record. Assist providers and clinical team members as needed. Follow all established clinical, safety, and patient-care procedures. Qualifications Previous experience in an optometry, ophthalmology, or other healthcare setting is preferred. Previous medical receptionist, patient services, or ophthalmic technician experience is a plus. Familiarity with NextGen or another electronic medical record system is preferred. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Understanding of medical documentation and HIPAA requirements. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills. Ability to learn and perform both administrative and clinical responsibilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Dependable transportation and the ability to work at our Parkville, Perry Hall, and Bel Air locations. Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. Compensation $17.00-$21.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
