The Medical Receptionist will serve as one of the first points of contact for our patients and will be responsible for providing courteous, efficient service while accurately handling patient information, scheduling, payments, insurance information, and daily front-office operations. Key Responsibilities
Greet patients and provide a welcoming and professional experience.
Check patients in and verify/update demographic information, including address, phone number, insurance, PCP, and other relevant information.
Address patient questions and concerns and refer issues to the Office Supervisor or Manager when necessary.
Collect copays, coinsurance, and outstanding patient balances.
Accept and accurately process patient payments.
Scan and upload identification, insurance cards, referrals, and other required documents.
Ensure patient charts contain accurate and current information, including pharmacy and PCP information.
Schedule new patient, follow-up, testing, and other appointments.
Review testing preparation instructions with patients and provide appropriate guidance.
Refer patients to hospital scheduling when necessary.
Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls to the appropriate person or department.
Monitor front-desk voicemails and return calls within 24 hours.
Prepare the following day's schedule and print required documents.
Print and organize superbills for the following day's appointments.
Close credit card batches at the end of each business day.
Balance all payments received during the business day.
Enter and maintain patient information in the EMR .
Send referrals to other medical providers by fax using appropriate medical terminology.
Monitor, tag, and clear incoming faxes and ensure documents are accurately routed to the appropriate patient chart or destination.
Maintain professional and effective communication with patients, providers, coworkers, and management.
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by management. Qualifications & Skills
Previous medical receptionist, medical front-office, or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
Experience with electronic medical records and/or medical practice management systems preferred.
Strong computer and data-entry skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional and courteous telephone manner.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle patient information confidentially and professionally.
Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy medical-office environment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office. The candidate should be able to communicate professionally with patients and coworkers, accurately manage administrative responsibilities, and know when to escalate patient concerns to management.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
