This position is located at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY. This position will serve as a member of a diverse, multi-professional team who works at the direction of a licensed independent practitioner (LIP) to capture and enter information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE
At least one (1) year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled (Data Transcriber - Medical Scribe).
OR EDUCATION
Successful completion of two (2) years of education above the high school level in an accredited institution. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR COMBINATION
: A combination of post-high school education in an accredited institution and general experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position may be used to qualify for this position.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
This position includes Selective Placement Factors (skill, knowledge, ability or other worker characteristic basic to - and essential for - satisfactory performance of the job). Selective Placement Factors are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet it are ineligible for further consideration. The Selective Placement Factors for this position are: Knowledge of medical terminology Experience performing transcription ensuring accuracy, spelling, punctuation and grammar utilizing a variety of computer applicants/software such as word processing, spreadsheet/database and/or audio-visual presentation software
TYPING PROFICIENCY
This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 25 words per minute. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Attention to Detail Clinical Data Collection/Documentation Computer Skills Manages and Organizes Information Medical Information Writing
IMPORTANT
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements:
The work is sedentary and does not require any special physical effort. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Employee may carry light items such as papers, books, and portable computer requirement. The work often requires long hours to meet project deadlines and to devise corrective action and solutions to unexpected technical and/or management crises resulting in sometimes highly stressful work situations.
